  ABOUT US

We started the stall in the year of 2000, with a small table, just selling second hand Levi's, Ben Sherman's, and retro clothing, with a few printed t-shirts. I used to go to all the markets in the early days, and buy good quality garments, take them home wash and iron them, so that someone could wear them straightaway if they wanted.  I loved routing through the shops, and ended up with a few good contacts who would look out garments for me.
We started to pick up and were given a lot of vinyl, cd's, video's etc. Items were coming from everywhere. Finding the time was a pain, as we still worked our normal jobs, so we either sorted everything out at night or at the weekends. Don't get me wrong we got a lot of really good stuff and some not so good, which we gave to charity shops.

All this got us doing some small rallies to start of with, which then ended up with people asking for us to come to their rallies.  This was a buzz, we were a bit younger and could  stand up to doing the rally and working and still meet a lot of really good friends who I cherish and party with. We started to get really well known on the scene.

We then decided to start a shop up in Argyle street in Glasgow as so many people asked us to as there was no scooterist shops around them. So we took a shop on which I was really excited but we had a lot of work to do to it to get it up and running. We were in it nearly every night after work and weekends, painting, sorting out stock, to get it up and running, and we were still doing the rallies every weekend then so you can imagine how shattered we were them. I was still going out to buy stock and this was all coming out our own pockets.

Once we got the shop ready we started to get more t-shirts printed, getting in more records and buying in new cd's, but we always kept everything to a low price as it's never been about massive profits for us. We wanted it to be affordable for the customers. We started to sell Harrington's, Monkey Jackets, Crombies, still doing the second hand clothing which always went quick. The shop was a good size so we decided to split it and start a rehearsal studio, which was all equipped with drums, stands, cables, mics, amps etc. This took of well, but meant one of us had to stay at night until the bands had finished, then we took on a friend Joe, who lived close buy and this took abit of pressure of off us.  We had a huge Target painted on the wall with the door in the centre of it, looked excellent.

In those days so many people were saying there was nowhere to go at the weekends, well that was something else we decided to look in to.  Alex decided to speak to a friend in the Barrowlands asking about putting a northern soul night on, so we decided to hire the late Edwin Starr, and a few Northern soul dj's, one was Duksey and the other was Colin, very good friends of ours and still are.  We were all buzzing as the night drew closer. Alex went to the airport and picked up Edwin Starr who I must say was a total gentleman. He came to the shop and spoke away to us and congratulated us on trying to keep the scene alive. He signed the wall and had his pictures taken with us all. What a legend. We took him to the Barrowlands where he got himself sorted while we were back home getting ready for the night. The night was a success, my brothers band ( Blue Tarino ) had a big debut and opened the night up and Billy Sloan was there to do a review, which he gave as a great night had buy all, hope there is many  more to come.  All proceeds from this went to Ladyburn school in Greenock, for children with special needs.

Well there was, the next one was Tommy Hunt, he was a complete star, very down to earth and a total gentleman, who became a very good friend.  This night went down a storm, the dance floor was completely jumping with soul dancers from all over, they all said it was the best night they had ever had, which gave us a great feeling inside. This was a sell out. Next on the list was the more Specials, Ska night was upon us and they were coming from all over, the dance floor was pumping with people skankin, the band didn't want to go of as they said it was the best gig they had done and were given the best reception.  But the night was getting late and time was called. This was a sell out

The last one we did was an Indie night with Bez from the Happy Mondays spinning the decks, this was a sell out. We had the Fools Gold  headlining, Baggy Mondays. Bez was the star of the show, what a guy, total laugh and so much fun to be around. This was the night that he went to a party in the Gorbals and left his trainers outside the door and someone stole them, he made the headlines the next day in the daily record. I wonder who it could of been? He became a great friend and anytime he was playing Glasgow he would call and put us on the guest list, and we would go and meet up back stage and have a laugh. He is a nutter, in a great way I mean. In between each gig we were still working and running the shop, doing the rallies. I don't know how we have done it.

I've been doing the rallies for along time now, nearly 25 years, it's always been what I want, and I have the best friends in the world, and would never change them. Alex has been doing them a wee bit less than me, but has met some really good friends and contacts who we have a lot of respect for. We  both love the scooter scene, we support the mod weekender in Glasgow, and have supported every club in Scotland that has been possible. Nowadays, we do most of the rallies, all the Nationals, and a good few smaller ones which have all  been excellent, don't think we've done a bad one yet. We also do the rebellion Punk weekender in Blackpool, 4 days, and I love it, it's so chilled, we have met some really great people, saw some brilliant bands, had the best laugh ever. It's not just punk, there is Ska, punk, rockabilly, 60's and 70's bands like the animals, and the Bay city Rollers, who  went   down a storm. There is burlesque dancers, art shows, comedians, bingo etc.

We are based in Stepps, on Cumbernauld Rd, we are next door to our good friend Gerry the Tattooist, (HUMAN CANVAS), we have set it up so that when we are away, people can still go in and have a look at some of the stock we have, we will be there over the winter  at the weekends, if you wish to pop in for a look. We have many t-shirts from, Scooterist, Punk, Ska, Retro, Kids, Harrington's, Monkey Jackets, Pork Pie Hats, Belts, Braces, etc.

Alex has took up DJing in the last few years and had built up a bit of a reputation lately, he has played a good few of the National Rallies, a lot of the smaller ones, he really enjoys it. He's available to do a set at the rallies, all you have to do is ask and he doesn't cost much. If you know him you'll know what I mean when I say he enjoys it, just watch him in action.

Well as you can see we have a brand new website which was launched on the 30/10/2009. This coincided with Bridlington Scooter Rally you might of seen some of our flyers kicking about at the rally? We thought it was time for an update as the last site was looking a bit dated, so we commissioned the all new web site from a fellow scooterist friend and local Scottish artist, Squire @ 0306 Design. We hope the new site will bring you easier shopping and browsing pleasure. Some pages are still under construction and idea stage so please check back soon And don't forget our print service!!

Some more aspects of this site have been added. There are more of our products added to the site, but we are setting up a new shopping cart so bare with us. If you see something you like and there is no BUY ME option please email us and we will send you a Pay Pal link. Many Thanks.
